i never shared all the videos i made for the “monday songs” album. so i’ll use them as a stopgap when i run out of time on a given weekend.

the video is an idea i’ve had for about thirty years or so: take identical shapes in different settings and blend one into the other. while putting together “now you see it” a couple weeks back, i realized how cool a slow dissolve is between two rich images.
whites get preference, causing uneven in-between states. these transitions are where the magic happens.
this song is the end product of an improvisation. i sat at the piano, without any ideas, and started playing and singing. the result is quite faithful to the original.

an experiment in songwriting: creating a video and writing the song to it.
i shot the footage ten days ago on a sunny afternoon. i knew i wanted to make a video to inspire a song, but i had no idea how the pieces would fit together.
working on a video/music experiment, so nothing new this week for the monday underground. hoping to stretch the parameters a bit going forward…
i put this video together for our 12th annual holiday song a few weeks back.
this song has been a favorite of mine since i posted it back in august of 2010.
i tried to make a video for it the following year as a follow up to my first “ghost story” video (monday song #1), but i kept grinding to a heavy-handed halt.

i’ve had this idea for a few months, though i had pictured it all in front of a tree in the middle of some park. when it came down to it, the mechanics of doing this outside were prohibitive and pushed me in another direction. it was only after i had successfully cloned myself that i considered putting us on a bedside table.
