monday song #71: quiet

this one started as an experiment. bass chords on my new rickenbacker. added piano and a beat from reason. that’s the core.

strings, mellotron and chamberlain saxes to flesh out the sound. improvised melody on a scribbled lyric. harmony. that’s pretty much it.

sustained loud sounds can make things seem quiet. like ear plugs. long enough and it’s like a warm blanket. kristin said it sounded like a lullaby. in a good way. i definitely enjoy psychedelic sound more than i used to. patience can make a lack of movement really move. phillip glass without the repetition. residents of the great state of washington might have an advantage in this department.

want to get a few more of these done before i start work on the next project, which i’m starting on my birthday.
