monday song #105: “time machine” (00m #2)

lyrics

i didn’t realize this was an 00m song until i was recording the harmonies. i started doing the “oo’s” over the bridge and it struck me i could put an ‘m’ on the end. at that moment i realized the whole song shared the 00m atmosphere, with a protagonist struggling with mental health issues and outsider-ness, with a core – if tragic – “happy ending” of acceptance, in this case, forced.

the subject of the song is aging/alzheimer’s, and the forced retreat from  reality into a world of memory and delusion, in this case seeing the world through a lost childhood.

this song combines some of the feel of my song “little maisy” off let your heart break, and the subject matter of connect the dots, a ten-song series of monday songs (21 to 30).
