i like to think of this as the best holiday song you’re never heard. it’s another chestnut from past holiday recordings, this time xmas 2005, cormac is 7 and maude is about to turn 4.
this is my attempt at an old fashioned christmas novelty tune, a la “rudolf the red-nosed reindeer” or “i saw mommy kissing santa claus.” forty years ago, it could have spawned a half-hour tv special: kid waiting up, dream-sequence head fake, then the heart-warming “there’s no place like home” ending, all in stilted claymation. those were the days.
i’m thinking of doing one more of these next week, for the downbeat post-christmas market. there just aren’t enough christmas hangover songs…
